India is playing its fiddle with democracy as its tune. The whole nation knows that India is the world’s largest democracy but on what basis? The people are misinterpreting the real meaning of Democracy. Democracy is by the people, for the people, of the people. In the present day politics, Democracy is by the people, of the people, for the legislators, not people. The whole system upon which India’s sentiments and ideologies were constructed had been shattered with the help of power and propagandas.
When politicians or commoners come out and say something in favor of the under-privileged, they are termed as provocateurs and they have a strong political weapon in hand which is UAPA. Immediately, the protestors are booked under sedition and their voices are repealed.
Democracy was not the same in 2012 or before.
There have been instances that at some point, democracy in India had lost its value for some reason in the past but it regained its strength and shone brighter and made progressive developments in all spheres.
Many such instances have happened under the UPA-1 and UPA-2 regime. Whenever some problems arose, without knowing the actual reason and cause behind that, the opposition had put forward their collective collateral vengeance towards the then prime minister Dr.Man Mohan Singh and the ruling party Chief. But nowhere the voices of the opposition were suppressed. Everyone was allowed to speak and put forth their concerns in both of the houses of the parliament.
For issues like the Petrol Price hike, the 2G scam(Which was later declared as not a scam by the Supreme Court), Nirbhaya Case, Dollar- Rupee instability, Stock markets crash, people from the right-wing parties namely Smirti Irani, LK Advani, Narendra Modi, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj condemned the policymakers and gathered in huge numbers with the help of the Indian public to protest for the masses.
None of the politicians were detained in the middle of the streets for amplifying their opinions against the government. No bills were passed by muting out the opposition in the parliament. Narendra Modi openly blamed Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for Nirbhaya’s death and no one knew what really happened from behind.
Nirbhaya was sent to Singapore after Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi said she was critical. But she succumbed to death while undergoing treatment in Singapore. Her body was received by the PM of India and was cremated with honors.
For sending her to Singapore for treatment was also heavily criticized and spread as an event of politicization. The opposition told the public that, She could have been saved if the government wouldn’t have sent her to Singapore. No debates on that now.
One point to add here, the UPA regime despite on the backseat never criticized the public or the opposition for protesting and demanding justice across the nation for the girl, Nirbhaya.
When the same cruelty got repeated in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the scenes that were happening around us are shivering and disgraceful. Being a Dalit family, they were continuously threatened by the upper caste people and the girl who was raped dealt with numerous sexual abuse incidents from the past. None from Hathras raised their voice, even after her death.
She spent around two weeks in hospital and was dying slowly because of the brutal assaults by the upper caste sexist scavengers. After her demise, her family was completely broken and they begged the officials to return the girl’s body to take it back home to perform the last rituals. But no one responded to their sentiments or inner emotions. They locked their parents in their house and police personnel cremated the girl’s body at midnight. This brought outrages across all the country but the way the government responded was very different.
Is being a Dalit or being a girl the biggest sin in one’s life? The present-day government sarcastically says ‘Yes’. Also, it is suppressing the voices that are raised against them.
Of all the mistakes done by the ruling party in this incident, the most inhumane move was using its media’s stronghold to debate whether the opposition is politicizing it for their own benefits or not?
When Rahul Gandhi tried to visit the family to give his support and mental strength, he along with Priyanka Gandhi and hundreds of people were shoved and detained by the police of Uttarpradesh. It’s the right of the girl’s family to decide whether to meet someone or not. Nowhere the police officials can intervene in this.

Using the word ‘politicization’ has become a new trend. It is the role of the opposition to stand for and support those who lost their rights to live in this nation. And, there is nothing left to debate on this.
During the 2014 general elections, Narendra Modi campaigned across the nation, and in all the stages, he added ‘Remember Nirbhaya when you go to vote’.
Now it's 2020. And people believed in him and the way the PM responds to Hathras case is completely disreputing to the post that he is holding.
If standing by the victim's side is interpreted and debated as doing politics, it is always good to do that because the nation needs more of that sort. It's a long way march. Let's march on together to win the battle against casteist clowns.
Is this the new governing model of the latest political agenda by the right-wing, ‘ The Ram Rajya’?
Please answer, Mr. Modi. The nation wants to know.
