Racism - The ignored trauma in Indian Society!

Indians tend to have a great deal of obsession with fair skin. The strange fact is, when they go abroad they will join hands with movements who work towards racial equality and eradicating racial violence. But in the homeland, some sort of magical Indian aura is making people superior over the dark complex people. They start shaming the dark-skinned people just to get some fake happiness out of it. These layers of race and caste are the biggest misfortunes that are holding us from progressing towards a future that treats people equally. Here, no one wants to eradicate caste or racial abuse just to make sure there will be some below us at any level in the caste structure or social structure which makes them superior that is of no use. Many studies suggest that almost 60% of the women in the country were mocked and body shamed at various occasions. 32.5% of women reported that their friends or neighbours often tend to make negative comments about the way they look, be it in ter...

Why Hathras is focused more?

For the past one week, the whole nation is protesting and demanding justice for a 20-year-old girl in the town of Hathras. At the same time, some politicians are questioning the hype for the Hathras incident that is been created by Media as well as the people who are protesting it. Let us look deeper. If you think, Hathras incident is the find of this kind that had happened in our country, it's surely not. If you think, this is the first time a Dalit woman had been brutally raped by upper caste people then that is also wrong. If you think that this is the first time, the police officials are showing their arrogance with the protestors, that is not. Then why Hathras is focused more?  Rape is Rape and there are no contradictions in it. The punishments should be quick and the policies should be implemented in such a way that no one should think of these brutal incidents. But the more pressure and focus on this one particular incident is because it's a heinous caste crime. The fa...

Let's celebrate him as Gandhi, not Mahatma!

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi - The most stamped person in the Universe who is celebrated as the leader of Non-violence across all borders is facing many denunciations from diverse disciplines. His influence on World politics and his efforts to nurture the brotherhood among Indians is intangible. The way he had dedicated his public life for the upliftment of the Indian community and creating harmony between Hindus and Muslims will remain as his greatest enlightenment. Gandhi tirelessly worked to remove untouchability from our society, and his advocacy for alcohol prohibition is still the sought-after topic for political debate in our country. But still, criticizing Gandhi is taking a new shape. In Schools and homes, the history teachers and elders are teaching kids about Gandhi from a very vague perspective. I could remember my school days where I won many prizes for writing essays about Gandhi's achievements and his life. Every year on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, trust in the n...

Standing by the sufferer's side - Why is that termed as politicisation.

India is playing its fiddle with democracy as its tune. The whole nation knows that India is the world’s largest democracy but on what basis? The people are misinterpreting the real meaning of Democracy. Democracy is by the people, for the people, of the people. In the present day politics, Democracy is by the people, of the people, for the legislators, not people. The whole system upon which India’s sentiments and ideologies were constructed had been shattered with the help of power and propagandas. When politicians or commoners come out and say something in favor of the under-privileged, they are termed as provocateurs and they have a strong political weapon in hand which is UAPA. Immediately, the protestors are booked under sedition and their voices are repealed. Democracy was not the same in 2012 or before.  There have been instances that at some point, democracy in India had lost its value for some reason in the past but it regained its strength and shone brighter and m...

Hathras Rape - The Pain Continues.

The world is Changing. The governments are changing. Even the policies framed by the previous governments are changing. But the struggles of being a woman in this nation is the only constant. People in our country are more dichotomy in nature. Right from the beginning, the mindset of the Indians is towards victimizing women for everything. If a girl gets harassed in school, parents will ask her not to school. If a boy teases a girl in a public place, parents will ask their daughter to not step out. If a girl is mocked by a group of sexists for her dressing, parents will restrict the personal lifestyle of their daughter. Nowhere, the boys are punished or at least asked to change their way of thinking in order to bring moral ethics in this society. Whatever we saw in our society is an indirect effect of male patriarchy. In movies, girls are always portrayed as the property of male society who will see them as the pleasure givers. In the name of love and sex, always girls need to respect ...

Communalism and Fake News - The Contemporary Worry!

The whole world is eagerly waiting for the vaccines to come out of the COVID scare and roam freely anywhere anytime without any curfews as we did six months ago. But there are a lot of invisible hitches in our country that are gonna test our privacy and moral-being. A recent study says that a piece of fake news can travel six times faster than the authenticated news. Also, in today's social dilemma, people are not ready to test the authenticity of the news that is been spread by the IT wings of various political parties through WhatsApp, Facebook, and so on. Fake news is much more contagious than all the deadly viruses that prevail in our motherland. This can be justified through many incidents that happened in the last couple of years. On 16 April 2020, a vigilante group lynched two Hindu Sadhus and their driver in Gadchinchale Village, Palghar District, Maharashtra, India. The incident was fuelled by WhatsApp rumors of thieves operating in the area during the countrywide coronav...
